New DJ Shadow article in Digizine.
Shadow talks about the gear he uses right now as well as his upcoming
album. This is what is being said about two tracks, that are going to
be on the 2006 DJ Shadow LP:
'You Made it'
Based on a long guitar sample that was meticulously cut up and
pitch-shifted into a
completely different chord progression. the songe makes use of live
percussion and a Korg Triton bass line, pitched and chopped to match
the guitar sample, for its backbone groove. Shadow the wrote basic
string arrangement for what may prove to be one of his most
orchestrally involved pieces yet. It also has real strings live, which
is a 17
piece ensemble with just an amazing sound.
'Erase You'
For people who like the beat work that shadow does, that's the
track that they're gonna get off on

Alright, y'all... Usually,
SoleSides.com doesn't provide y'all with unconfirmed news and
information, but it's been decided that the best way to control rumors
that are going around at the moment, is by mentioning it here...So
let's go:
A track called '3 Freaks' by bay area
hiphop artist 'Keak Da Sneak' is popping up on several related
websites, audioblogs and messageboards. Rumours are that DJ Shadow
produced this track. Some people on the solesides boards are sure this
is by Shadow, some aren't.
Click here to read the discussion on this track. and
click here to read an article where Jeff Chang, co-founder of
SoleSides mentiones about Keak Da Sneak.
To listen to the track, check out the
latest blog entry @
earfuzz.com - some people even say this track will be on
Shadow's next album.
Please keep your minds together, y'all...
Rumors that this is a DJ Shadow produced track are far from
confirmed...let's not start about talking if this is going to be on
the next album...
You have been warned.

Well well well, here we are. After a two
week break, solesides.com is back in action...It's good to be back!
Here's an update on what happened in the SoleSides/QUANNUM world
lately;
-
Check out this nice SPIN.COM article on APSCI, who where band
of the day last week. There's some talk about it on the
SoleSides boards.
To read that or join the discussion,
click here. And y'all better vote to make APSCI band of the
month! Also on the boards, Guy, APSCI's drummer wrote a nice thank-you
to all the fans who have been so supportive up to now. Here's the
exact quote;
"Just want to throw out a quick thanks to everyone who's
suported us thus far, things are really starting to heat up for us out
here in BK. The discussion going on here is one we hear often, and one
that def gets talked about on the van rides from gig to gig. Just to
give you an idea where I come from, though I grew up with Hip Hop in
my blood, I'm really more of a Junglist(those of you that have seen us
live can prolly see that). I run a small DNB label, and outside of
Apsci, and some stuff with Bill Laswell, that's what I'm doin most of
the time. So as you can imagine to be asked to reproduce these beats
on a kit was an honor as well as a challenge. Key word being
challenge, this is a record that most people would have expected
someone like Warp to put out. But what's going on with the Apsci
sound, whether you feel it or not, is not easily lumped into any
genre, or label. I want to thank Quannum and everyone there Lydia,
Isaac, Gab, X, Shadow (and those I'm forgetting) for seeing the
vision, and believing in it.
Hope to see more of y'all on the road"
How cool was that?? Come closer to the
Quannum artists and join the boards!
- Only a few weeks after the
QUANNUM
release of the awesome "Thanks for Asking" album by
APSCI, a new
wicked album is waiting to be released. It's the album "Cliquety
Klicq" by General Elektriks and you can already buy the pre-release or
listen to soundclips on ITUNES.
- Check out
obeydjshadow.com
for info on a soon to be released limited edition clothing and
music box set entitled PUBLIC WORKS.

all today! Be sure to keep checking this place for new updates and

about the DJ Shadow bootleg "Live in Bangkok" -
Click here to listen to that release Note that only the first
18 minutes of this release are mixed by DJ Shadow.
Once again we need to tell you not to buy
it. This is what Shadow himself says about this bootleg;
"It's basically a mix I did for the BBC in
late '99 or early '00 along with someone else's jazz music (?) Now
people are putting anything on a CD and saying it's me. This is
exactly what they did to Hendrix after he died throughout the '70s. It
sucked then and it sucks now.
-Shadow"
